Kuwait- KRCS delivers humanitarian aid to Gazans

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) on Saturday continues providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the beleaguered Gaza Strip in the wake of the 51-day Israeli military onslaught.

The KRCS said this evening it donated two well-equipped ambulances to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza.

Khalid Al-Mutairi, the KRCS's disaster management official, arrived here via Rafah border crossing and handed over the two ambulances to Palestinian side earlier today.

The KRCS was the first regional and international society that offered humanitarian aid to the vulnerable people in the Strip through launching an airlift carrying different aid.

The move came after Israeli aggression had destroyed thousands homes and housing units in the Strip, which is about on the brink of a humanitarian and healthy disaster.

Over the past weeks, the KRCS offered foodstuffs, medical supplies and other humanitarian aid in addition to fuel to different institutions in the Strip.

During a press conference in Gaza, Al-Mutairi confirmed that the KRCS's humanitarian aid to Gaza came upon the instructions of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

"This humanitarian aid supports our Palestinian brothers in Palestine and in the Strip in particular after they had suffered from continuing Israeli aggression," he said. "What the KRCS offered to Palestinians is a donation from Kuwaiti people to Palestinians in the Strip to alleviate their sufferings," he added, indicating that the aid arrived here in different batches.

"Another consignment of ten tonnes of humanitarian aid was handed to the PRCS, while the third one offered medical supplies to Ministry of Health in Gaza," he pointed out.

He added that about 20,000 food bags were distributed to the needy in the Strip in addition to blankets, sheets and pillows.

The KRCS allocated two wards at Egypt's Al-Arish Hospital after providing them with required medical supplies to treat Palestinians who were transferred to the hospital.

He reiterated that Kuwaiti aid to Palestinians is ongoing until their suffering comes to an end.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Al-Kashef, a senior official at Ministry of Health in Gaza, welcomed the continuing aid from Kuwait.

"Kuwait has been providing assistance to Palestinians for more than six decades, including medications and educational and agricultural services," he said.

On behalf of Palestinian institutions and people, he thanked His Highness the Amir, the government and people of Kuwait for their support to Palestinians.
