Saudi- 63 terrorists issued travel bans for 639 years
(MENAFN- Arab News) The specialized criminal court in jeddah has reportedly issued a travel ban for a collective period of 639 years on 63 individuals convicted of terrorism. the ban will take effect immediately upon the prisoners' release from prison after having completed their sentences.
the ruling was issued following court hearings over the past three weeks.
the charges against the accused included money laundering participating in the fight against iraq the smuggling of a number of prisoners from various jails in the kingdom the formation of a terrorist cell to torture security officials targeting state officials and police authorities and the possession of weapons and ammunition used to shoot at security officials.
according to the source the travel ban was one of several rulings issued by the special criminal court. the other penalties include imprisonment flogging and fines.
the court revealed that it had rejected some of the charges made by the prosecutor because of the lack of evidence.
