UAE- Lubna Al Qasimi heads Trade delegation to Cambodia and Thailand

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade will lead a delegation on Monday to Cambodia and Thailand to discuss strengthening trade and investment ties with these countries.
The delegation also included officials and representatives from national institutions and companies.
The visit comes within the framework of the Ministry's efforts at widening opportunities available for the state investments around the world, especially in countries with emerging economies, with the aim of creating better opportunities for joint investments and cooperation between the UAE and world countries.
Sheikha Lubna and her accompanying delegation are scheduled to meet with top trade and economy officials in both countries where she will discuss strengthening the existing trade and economic partnerships, the establishment of projects in a number of economic sectors, eliminating barriers to the flow of investments and easing trade exchange.
Commenting on the visit, Juma Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Affairs at MOFT said: "The visit to Cambodia and Thailand comes within the framework of developing the trade and investment ties we have with both countries to higher levels in various sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture and tourism. We aspire to create strategic relations with both countries that would spur further growth."
"We see the visit as one that adds to MOFT's regular visits to other world countries. During this visit, we will hold dynamic discussions on the future of our trade and economic partnerships with Cambodia and Thailand," he added.
Mohammed Hamdan Al Zoaby, Head of the Ministry's Trade Promotion Department is also part of the delegation and among those taking part from the UAE private sector included Rashid Mubarak Al Hajri, President of "Agthia", Obaid Saeed Al Thahiry, Deputy Executive Director of International Relations at the Abu Dhabi Polymers Company "Borouge" and Otaiba Al Otaibah, Chairman of "Otaiba Enterprises".
Trade between the UAE and both countries has been witnessing positive developments. The country's foreign trade with Cambodia has increased by 121 percent between 2010 and 2011, and by 33 percent with Thailand over the same period.
