DUBAI, 21st May, 2018 (WAM) -- The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, organises a variety of Islamic, social, cultural and charitable activities during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

This is part of its efforts to promote the great values of the Holy Month and enhance effective communication, cohesion, and social solidarity among employees. This is also aligned with DEWA's integrated social, humanitarian and voluntary programme during the Year of Zayed 2018.

DEWA has set up a Ramadan Tent at its head office to serve Iftar meals to DEWA staff who are on duty and for the public during Iftar time. In addition, DEWA provides daily Iftar meals to 2,300 people during the month in different locations, including DEWA's head office in Zabeel East, power generation and water desalination plants, and emergency sections across Dubai.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, congratulated DEWA's staff on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, wishing them good health and continued excellence. He prayed to Allah to protect the UAE and its leadership, wishing them many happy returns on this blessed occasion.

"In celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan and in line with DEWA's efforts to promote community and humanitarian work during the Year of Zayed 2018 and consolidate the principles and values of humanity and civilisation that were reflected by our founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, DEWA organises events and activities derived from our Islamic heritage and traditions. This promotes the spirit of compassion and social cohesion among the UAE society as per the directives of our wise leadership and the objectives to achieve the UAE Vision 2021 and Dubai Plan 2021 to make Dubai a home for a compatible and mutually supportive society that embraces shared human values.

"DEWA's Islamic, social, cultural and charitable activities consolidate the spirit of brotherhood, selflessness and cohesion in a spiritual atmosphere that reflects its Islamic values, which are based on tolerance, brotherhood, love, as well as the UAE heritage and traditions," Al Tayer added.
