Azerbaijan's Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with the Chief of the Azerbaijan Military Academy named after Heydar Aliyev, Major General Fizuli Salahov, Commander of the Turkish Military Academy Brigadier General Ismail Guzeller and Rector of the National Defense Academy of Georgia Colonel Zaza Japaridze, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a message on May 17.
The minister noted the importance of discussions and exchange of experience within the meeting of heads of military educational institutions of the three countries held in Baku.
Hasanov stressed the importance of holding such events on a periodic basis.
The meeting was held in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the defense field signed between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia in Giresun on March 31, 2018.
Assessing the Baku event as a continuation of the meetings of the Defense Ministers and the Chiefs of the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of the three countries held so far, Hasanov expressed confidence that this cooperation will make an important contribution to ensuring peace and security in the region.
The sides also discussed issues of jointly educating cadets in military educational institutions of the three countries, conducting joint exercises, sports and knowledge competitions as well as a number of other topics.
Expressing gratitude to Hasanov for organizing the meeting and hospitality, the heads of educational institutions, in turn, stressed that the fruitful discussions held in Baku will make a significant contribution to the development of relations between the military educational institutions of the three countries and the implementation of joint activities.
