Utah GOP fails Mitt Romney in nomination vote

(MENAFN) Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney was confirmed to have not been able to claim the Utah Republican Party's nomination.

The 2012 Republican presidential candidate is now required to run in the primary with 11 other competitors for the US Senate elections.

Delegates at the Utah GOP convention have granted Romney merely 49.12 percent of votes, not nearly enough to allow him to participate in the November ballot.

"This is terrific for the people of Utah, and I really want to thank the delegates who stayed so late to give me the kind of boost that I got here today," he stated after the vote was concluded.
