Kuwait- 'Jaber Hospital yet to open despite MPW meeting all the conditions'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) MoE, Awqaf ask PAHW to postpone handover of buildings

KUWAIT CITY, March 21: Several meetings were held between Ministry of Health and Ministry of Public Works concerning the handing over of Jaber Hospital.

Also, Ministry of Public Works has met all the conditions stated by Ministry of Health in terms of obtaining the approval of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) for inaugurating the hospital. Despite all this, the hospital has still not been opened, reports Aljarida daily quoting informed sources.

The reason the hospital is still out of service is the unjustified delay of Ministry of Health to merge it with the working hospitals.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has asked Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) to postpone the handover of the buildings that belong to them in the recently- built residential areas in Sabah Al-Ahmed City.

The two ministries gave a number of justifications for the request such as the area is far from Kuwait City due to which it is difficult for their employees to commute to and from their houses located in the interior areas close to Kuwait City.

Other reasons included lack of budget for offering remote area allowances which might encourage employees to take up work in such remote areas that are in dire need for state facilities as they are inhabited three years ago.

Also, the lack of readiness of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to provide job opportunities for filling the vacancies in the two ministries is another reason. According to sources, Ministry of Education is facing a problem in terms of failure in signing new contracts with companies that provide security guards and cleaners, due to which the ministry is unable to receive new schools.
