Kabul, Islamabad urged to take measures to locate missing Pakistani citizens in Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 19 March: Family members of the Pakistani citizens who went missing in Afghanistan have sought the help of Islamabad and Kabul for the early recovery of their beloved ones.

Speaking at a news conference in Peshawar press club here on Monday, Akbar Ali, Sajjad Khan and others said their relatives were among the thousands of residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province who had gone to Afghanistan to earn livelihood for their families but were arrested by Afghan authorities on charges of espionage.

They informed that the supreme court of Afghanistan had convicted the arrested persons who had completed their imprisonment some two years ago.

'The Afghan government had informed us that those who had completed their imprisonment would soon be freed but they have not been returned to their homes till date,' said Akbar Ali, whose son, Asghar Ali has gone missing in Afghanistan.

He said he moved from pillar to post but could not locate the whereabouts of his son.

The Afghan authorities have not proved the charges against my son. 'It seems that the Pakistani prisoners have been shifted from jail to undisclosed locations,' he feared.

They appealed to the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan to take up the matter at diplomatic level and chalk out a mechanism to locate the missing persons and take collective efforts for their freedom.
