Turkey resumes attacks against Afrin, killing 13

(MENAFN) 13 civilians were killed, and 22 others were wounded on Friday in the Kurdish city of Afrin in Syria due to the Turkish assault, according to the Democracy Center for Human Rights in Kurdistan (DCHRK).

"The Turkish army on Friday bombarded Rajo Bilbila and some other areas around Afrin, resulting in the killing of 13 people and wounding of 22 others," read DCHRK's statement.

Even though the UN Security Council last week approved a 30-day ceasefire across Syria, including Afrin, Turkey has continued its assaults on the region.

It's worth remembering that in January 2018, Turkey launched an offensive called "Olive Branch" on Syria's Afrin Kurds-majority, on the pretext of protecting its boarders from the People's Protection Units (YPG) which Ankara views as "terrorists."
