Oman- CBFS holds annual meeting of HR and training heads of banks

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) recently convened a meeting of the HR and training heads of commercial banks functioning in the sultanate.

The focus of the meeting was on the identification of the priority training needs of banks to serve as a basis for development of the Annual Training Plan of the College for its forthcoming academic year 2017-18.

The meeting was held in the form of a workshop. During the workshop, the delegates engaged in extensive deliberations and discussions with the senior management of the college to identify the training requirements of the banks.

Abdul Rahman Ibrahim al Balushi, chairman of the Board of Directors of the college, addressed the training managers on the regulatory priorities of CBO and the training needs for banks arising from the same.

During the meeting, the two new training offerings of the college were also highlighted, namely, the Banking Foundation Programme (for new recruits under the national job creation initiative) and the Certificate in Risk Management (which is a regulatory priority of CBO for the development of a sound banking and financial system).

Dr Ahmed bin Mohsin al Ghassani, dean, CBFS, said, 'The workshop epitomises the commitment of the college to two-way communication characterised by an ongoing channel of stakeholder feedback. The discussions have helped the college get a first-hand feel of the changing human capital development priorities of banks in a volatile operating environment to enable it to adapt its offerings accordingly.

'The college reiterates its determination to be the training partner of choice for the banking and financial sector of Oman in the coming days.'
