Karnataka man makes 'Temple of love' for his deceased wife

"Our love was divine," says Karnataka-based farmer, Rajuswamy, speaking of his deceased wife Rajamma. Divine indeed and so he has built a temple, as she had desired.
His wife was his sister's daughter. Though no one supported the marriage, they were content having each other and lived in Krishnapura village.
"She was unlike other women who cry for sarees and ornaments," he shared.
'Stopped construction midway after she died'

They are financially weak, but Rajuswamy made it a point to fulfill his wife's wish. He started constructing the temple in 2006, but stopped midway when she expired.
"She was the one who insisted on constructing the temple so I got upset, and I stopped further construction work. I did not even turn towards the temple," said Rajuswamy, who worships her 'idol' everyday.
'She said she will stay in the temple'
Sculpted her idol too
Six months later, Rajuswamy dreamt of his wife who asked him to resume construction because "she will stay in the temple". This motivated him to kick-start building the temple on his 3-acre farmland.
He also sculpted her idol and placed it alongside four other deities keeping a space vacant, probably for his idol to be placed after his demise.
People built 'Taj Mahal', temple in remembrance in past too

In 2008, a 54-year-old man finished building Taj Mahal for his deceased wife at 3,800 feet in Mizoram. It cost him a staggering Rs 1.10 crore but after he lost her to a 2001 accident, money seemed the least important asset.
In another case, an 80-year-old man from Karnataka built a temple for his mother in 2016 and worships her everyday.
