Spectra's 1Gbps Internet coming soon to Mumbai and Chennai
23 Feb 2018

For those of you in Mumbai and Chennai and haven't yet taken the Mbps to Gbps leap, Spectra will soon be introducing its 1Gbps connection in your cities.

After having started its services in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru, Spectra aims to bring uninterrupted high-speed Internet experience to other cities where the company is active.

Here's more about Spectra's plans, its competitors and future goals.

Spectra's broadband plans
From Mbps to Gbps!

Spectra offers only 1Gbps plans which, currently in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru, start at Rs. 899 per month with data capping at 400GB download in Bengaluru and 150GB in Delhi (no upload limits).

However, for Rs. 1,249, one can avail unlimited downloads as well. Spectra has also partnered with Hungama, ALT Balaji to provide pre-bundle content access to their catalogue on premium plans.

Spectra is not alone
The competitors

While there are other players like ACT, Airtel etc., which offer several plans across various bandwidths, Spectra claims to have a 10-15 per cent market share in 6 cities where it has active services.

However, the competition will only increase with the highly anticipated launch of Reliance's JioFiber which may disrupt the growing broadband market in the country.

Preparing for 5G
The bigger picture

Spectra aims to invest Rs. 100 crore towards network expansion and launching its 1Gbps offerings. However, the company is also viewing at the upcoming 5G rollout.

Given 5G will require thousands of small cells that could support 1Gbps backhaul or simple said links, Spectra want to be well positioned to supply pivotal requirements for the 5G rollout.
