Pakistan- Roads covered by snow in KP mountainous areas being cleared


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Many blocked routes in mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been reopened after snowfall during the last three days.

The district administration of Chitral said the clearing process of roads was started as soon as the snowfall stopped and Lowari Tunnel has been reopened. However, the Lowari Top was has not been opened for traffic yet and work on removal of snow has been continuing. About four to five feet snowfall has been recorded in Chitral.

Four feet snowfall was also recorded in Upper Dir. TNN correspondent said the local administration is busy in opening the roads. However, local people are also opening the routes on self-help basis.

Efforts have also been launched to open the roads covered by snow in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram and Galiyat and a number of routes have been opened.

There were reports that avalanches have fallen at some places in Kaghan and Naran.
