Ofcom findings suggest an increase in underage social media accounts
(MENAFN) Based on findings of a study conducted by Ofcom, 50 percent of kids aged 11 and 12 own a profile on social media regardless of most platforms' minimum age regulation being thirteen.
The government has received an appeal from NSPCC, a children's charity, to take action against the matter of underage profiles on social media.
Social media profiles are currently owned by 46 percent eleven year olds, 51 percent twelve year olds and 28 percent ten year old, according to report findings from Ofcom's Children and Parents Media Use and Attitudes.
