FCC Chairman: fears of critics on net neutrality described as 'overstated'

(MENAFN) Chairman Ajit Pai of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has claimed on Wednesday that critics are giving way too much weight to their doubts on how the internet will be affected in removing net neutrality rules founded under former President Obama.

During the TV program "Fox & Friends", Pai claimed "they greatly overstate the fears about what the internet will look like going forward." He discussed the idea that a more lenient regulatory move will fuel investment from internet service providers.

Pai continued "so I think that they also ignore that we need much more investment in networks and infrastructure to get these businesses to take the risks to build these networks, especially in rural and low income America." He further added "you need to have light touch, market-based regulation, not micromanagement from Washington, D.C."
