Eight dead by Pakistani security forces in Karachi


(MENAFN) Eight militants were killed by Pakistani paramilitary troops after a fail attempt of assassinating an opposition politician in Karachi, according to officials.

The Pakistan Rangers staged a united raid with counter-terrorism officers in the Raees Goth neighbourhood overnight after intelligence information about the presence of militants in the area, according to the Rangers' spokesman for Sindh province, Major Qambar Raza.

"After an intense exchange of fire five terrorists were killed on the spot, while three others who were captured wounded later died in hospital," he said.
