Hollywood actor and superstar comedian Marlon Wayans, famous for comedy films Scary Movie and White Chicks, will headline the live entertainment shows on offer for the upcoming Qatar Summer Festival 2017 which kicks off next month.
To be the longest edition yet, this year's festival runs from June 22 to September 5 and features shopping and hotel promotions and family entertainment.
'The festival events will start on the first day of Eid Al Fitr and will feature live entertainment, the first of which is standup comedy show featuring Marlon Wayans.
This show organized in collaboration with Iconic Events will be held on June 27 at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC), QTA's Head of Events and Festivals Technical Support, Hamad Al Khaja announced recently.
Hosted by Khalifa Saleh Al Haroon, the show will include an opening act by Saad Khan of Stand Up Comedy Qatar.
Box office sensation Wayans has gained a strong fan base in the GCC with sold out shows in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Jeddah and his first stint in Doha is expected to be another hit.
Tickets, which range from QR199 up to QR999, are now available at Virgin Megastores throughout the country and online through the store's website, in addition to PlatinumList.net and QTickets.com.
The festival is also bringing back the highly successful Doha Comedy Festival, in addition to a concert by Nawal Al Kuwaitiyah and Saudi superstar Mohamad Abdo, courtesy of Rotana Group completing the lineup of the array of live entertainment offering at QSF.
The main feature of QS, however, is the Entertainment City which will run from the first day of Eid Al Fitr until September 5 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center where visitors can enjoy more than 35 rides, an inflatable obstacle course, skill games, video games, live entertainment shows, 24 food court outlets and eight pop-up shops .
The Entertainment City will also host the fourth Mindsports World from August 19 to 27 expected to attract 1,500 mindsports enthusiasts from over 40 different countries.
Meanwhile, shopping promotions at malls including Dar Al Salam, Ezdan Mall, Gate Mall, Gulf Mall, Hyatt Plaza, Mall of Qatar, Lagoona Mall and Landmark Mall in which retailers will offer up to 50 discounts will begin on June 22, said Al Khaja.
For every QR200 spent at any of the participating outlets in these malls, shoppers can win cash prizes and a luxury car as grand prize during the Mega Raffle Draw on the last day of the festival, he added.
