Qatar- Ooredoo takes lead in cloud and data services

Ooredoo is emerging as a leader in cloud and data centre services offering a range of cloud based security, storage, hosting and managed services. The Group added 22 million new customers to reach a total of 138 million customers by the end of year 2016, said Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman of Ooredoo, addressing Annual General Assembly meeting held at Four Seasons Hotel.

During 2016, we celebrated the tenth year of operations of our Qatar Data Centre, which has evolved into the largest and most advanced facility of its kind in the region, reflecting our robust experience in this area, said the Chairman addressing the shareholders. ' We have seen positive growth in customer numbers, adding 22 million new customers to reach a total of 138 million customers by year end, representing year on year growth of 19 percent compared with 2015, he added. During the meeting shareholders approved the recommendation of the Board of Directors to distribute a cash dividend of 35 percent of the nominal share value (QR 3.5 per share).
The Chairman outlined the success of the company's strategy for becoming a global data experience leader, pointing to the strength of its network across markets in the Middle East, North African and Southeast Asia.
