(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The launch of the service came after the signing of an agreement last week that enabled Danat Al Emarat Hospital to become the first private hospital in Abu Dhabi to issue electronic birth certificates. The Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has started issuing electronic birth certificates at private hospitals. Under the new system, Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children has been authorised to issue birth certificates for newborns.

'The new service comes in line with the current regulations implemented by HAAD for the issuance of the certificates,' the healthcare sector regulator in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, said.

The launch of the service came after the signing of an agreement last week that enabled Danat Al Emarat Hospital to become the first private hospital in Abu Dhabi to issue electronic birth certificates without the need for visiting HAAD customer service centres.

Helal Khamis Al Muraikhi, director of customer care and corporate communication at HAAD, said: 'HAAD previously implemented its electronic system for the issuance of birth certificates at government healthcare facilities in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Tamm Centres in the Western Region. This system directly e-links these facilities and centres to HAAD's system, allowing them to issue certificates, thereby effectively eliminating the need for parents to visit any HAAD customer service centre.'

Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi, managing-director and CEO of United Eastern Medical Service said: 'We are proud to sign this agreement which links us to the HAAD system and authorises Danat Al Emarat Hospital to issue electronic birth certificates to all newborns at the hospital.'

How to get the certificate

> Documents required for issuance of a new birth certificate include the original birth notification provided by the hospital, the family book (applicable to citizens only), parents' passports, marriage certificate and identity cards.

> Healthcare facilities and centres currently linked to the system are required to send copies of all original documents electronically to HAAD

> HAAD will validate the accuracy and completeness of the paperwork and provide the necessary approvals
