(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Geneva, October 22 (QNA) - The State of Qatar stressed today its position on the importance of implementing Geneva 1 and UN Security resolution on ending acts of aggression in Syria and allowing the delivery of humanitarian aid.
This came during a statement by the State of Qatar in the 25th special session of the Human Rights Council on the deteriorating situation of human rights in the Syrian Arab Republic. The statement was read by HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab.
He said today's session was held to discuss developments in Aleppo and what the city is witnessing from crimes committed by the Syrian regime and its allies. He said that they have been using heavy weapons and targeting civilians, hospitals, schools and markets as well as humanitarian aid convoys.
He added that the continued bombardment of under-siege Eastern Aleppo, where 275 thousand people reside, can turn the area into a mass grave. He added that it was unacceptable that the international community has failed in stopping the Syrian regime's crimes against the Syrian people over the past five and a half years.
Al Henzab highlighted that the attacks made by the Syrian regime and its allies have covered on the demographic changes they have been doing in other cities and villages. He called on the international community to show that the fight of the Syrian people against dictatorship in demand for freedom, justice and dignity cannot turn into crimes broadcast on the news. He stressed that the war will end someday, and those responsible for the crimes against the Syrian people will be questioned. (QNA)
