Cabinet Approves $400 Million World Bank Financing Agreement For Health Sector Reform

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - The Cabinet on Monday approved a $400 million financing agreement with the World Bank's International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) to support Jordan's results-based Health Sector Reform Programme.

The programme is one of the government's key reform initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of public health spending and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.

According to a government statement, the programme will focus on strengthening financial and administrative governance systems in public hospitals, improving primary healthcare services, expanding early detection of non-communicable diseases, and accelerating digital transformation and electronic integration across healthcare services.

The initiative is expected to contribute to greater efficiency within the healthcare system and improve access to high-quality health services for citizens nationwide. Implementation of the programme is scheduled to continue through 2030.

The programme is aligned with the objectives of the Economic Modernisation Vision and the government's priorities for developing the healthcare sector. It will be financed through a results-based approach, with funding tied to the achievement of specific and measurable performance indicators.
