Netanyahu Holds Security Consultations After Iranian Missile Attack
(MENAFN) Benjamin Netanyahu held overnight security consultations with members of Israel’s Security Cabinet and senior defense officials following Iran’s missile attack on northern Israel, according to reports early Monday.
Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 reported that the meetings took place shortly after Netanyahu spoke by phone with Donald Trump in the aftermath of the Iranian missile barrage.
According to the report, Trump urged Netanyahu during the call to avoid an immediate military response and to wait several days in order to allow space for ongoing diplomatic efforts. Neither Netanyahu’s office nor the White House has publicly confirmed details of the conversation.
Meanwhile, Israeli military spokesperson Effie Defrin said the armed forces are prepared to carry out “powerful strikes” against Iran once political approval is granted.
Defrin added that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir conducted a security assessment with senior commanders and affirmed that the military is ready to act “immediately” once given the green light, signaling continued preparedness amid rising regional tensions.
