6 Top Tips To Manage Heat Stress At Work: Moph

Doha, Qatar: The soaring temperatures in Qatar have prompted the Ministry of Public Health to issue a few tips to protect community members from heat stress while outdoors.

Its tips include:
1. Drink cool water every 15-20 minutes
2. Avoid tea, coffee, energy drinks and soft drinks
3. Take breaks in a shady or cool place
4. Eat healthy, eat light
5. Wear light and loose clothing.
6. Keep your head covered when outdoors.

The Health Ministry published these tips in various languages, including English, Arabic, Urdu, and other Asian languages to ensure maximum reach among the expat labour community.

The Ministry of Labour prohibits working outdoors in open areas from 10am to 3:30pm during summer. This regulation, applicable until September 15, requires employers, companies and establishments operating outdoor worksites to adjust work schedules to ensure labourers are not exposed to direct sunlight.
