Bannu Abduction Case: Family Alleges Police Involvement, Demands Recovery
BANNU: A family from Bazaar Ahmad Khan has alleged that their brother was abducted in the presence of police officials and demanded his immediate recovery during a press conference at the Bannu Press Club.
Speaking alongside his father Nawaz Khan and brother Sajid Nawaz, Hameed Nawaz claimed that his brother Sabar Nawaz was taken away by armed men who also allegedly accompanied police personnel during the incident.
He said that a group of 25 to 30 armed individuals had earlier visited their home, claiming that a Rs400 million financial dispute was linked to one of their relatives. The family, however, maintained they were poor labourers with no knowledge of such financial matters.
Hameed Nawaz further alleged that police from the Saddar police station later arrived with the same armed individuals and summoned the family to the police station after Eid.
He stated that on the scheduled day, while he was at his photocopy shop, a vehicle arrived and attempted to forcibly take his brother, who had returned from Dubai for medical treatment, including kidney-related surgery.
The family claimed that after reaching the Saddar police station, armed men were seen moving freely until the afternoon, after which they were taken to another location for“further negotiations.” They alleged that during transit, police personnel were also present and overseeing the movement.

According to the family, they were later taken to a school where they were held hostage. Hameed Nawaz said he and his father were later released, but Sabar Nawaz was kept in custody. The alleged abductors reportedly threatened to kill him if the demanded amount was not paid.
He clarified that the financial dispute was with a relative currently residing in Oman, adding that neither he nor his brother had any connection to the matter.
The family has called for a transparent investigation, legal action against those involved, and the immediate safe recovery of Sabar Nawaz.
