(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Jammu & Kashmir Bank recorded over 12 crore transactions worth more than Rs 15,000 crore during the week leading up to Eid
Azha, reflecting a major surge in digital banking activity and festive business across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Bank also registered its highest-ever single-day transaction volume on May 25, when customers carried out nearly 1.69 crore transactions involving Rs 2,848 crore, setting a new benchmark in its digital banking history.

According to officials, more than 95 per cent of the total transactions during the festive week were executed digitally, underlining the growing customer shift towards technology-driven banking services.

At the centre of this surge was the Bank's flagship mobile banking platform, mPay Delight Plus, which handled peak traffic without disruption and recorded its highest-ever single-day transaction volume of 1.69 crore transactions worth Rs 2,848 crore.

A senior Bank official said the institution had significantly upgraded its technology infrastructure ahead of the festive season to ensure uninterrupted services.

“We have comprehensively upgraded all our technology platforms and our teams worked tirelessly round the clock to ensure uninterrupted services and zero inconvenience to customers during the festive rush,” the official said.

“It is particularly encouraging to witness the rapid rise in digital adoption among the younger generation, especially Gen Z customers, who find our digital offerings highly attractive, convenient and dependable,” the official added.

Recently, Managing Director and CEO Amitava Chatterjee had said the Bank adopted a“zero tolerance for downtime” approach after revamping its technology systems, a claim that appeared to reflect in the smooth handling of the Eid rush.

With more than 22 million account holders, the Bank now processes over 95 per cent of its overall transactions digitally, officials said, describing it as a major transformation in customer banking behaviour driven by convenience and trust.

Customers and traders across Kashmir praised the Bank for maintaining seamless digital and branch services during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year.

Mohammad Ashraf, owner of Aksa Namkeen in Srinagar, said the Bank's scan-and-pay facilities worked“flawlessly” throughout the Eid season.

“Our scan-and-pay transactions had an almost 100 per cent success rate which greatly helped our business operations during peak hours,” he said.

Azra Beigh, owner of Kashir Clothing in Chadoora, said digital money transfers during the festive rush remained smooth and hassle-free.

“J&K Bank truly deserves appreciation for providing such seamless digital services during the busiest shopping days,” she said.

Officials said the Bank also made special arrangements for adequate availability and fair distribution of fresh currency notes across branches, keeping in view the traditional practice of giving“Eidi” to children during Eid celebrations.

While a few isolated complaints regarding malfunctioning ATMs in certain areas of Srinagar and adjoining districts were reported, officials said technical teams responded swiftly to restore services and ensure uninterrupted cash availability.
