Amal is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Quantitative Criminology at the University of Manchester. She is currently working on a project examining the long-term consequences of police stops on youth mental health and offending behaviour. Amal recently completed her PhD in Social Research Methods in the Department of Methodology at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research interests focus on the use of police powers and the institutional and racialised dynamics of police–civilian encounters in England and Wales.
