LSG Vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Who Won Yesterday's Match? Results, Highlights, And Key Performances
Lucknow: Punjab Kings have kept their playoff hopes burning bright with a massive seven-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. The hero of the night was captain Shreyas Iyer, who smashed a stunning century (101* off 51 balls) to guide his team home.
Chasing a tough target of 197, Punjab got the job done in just 18 overs, losing only three wickets. In true superstar style, Shreyas Iyer finished the match and brought up his century with a massive six.
With this win, Punjab has jumped to fourth place with 15 points from 14 games. But hold on, their playoff spot isn't confirmed yet. It all now depends on tomorrow's match. If Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians, Punjab's campaign will be over.
Rajasthan currently has 14 points from 13 games. Even Kolkata, with 13 points from 13 games, has a slim mathematical chance. The bad news for Delhi Capitals fans is that Punjab's victory has officially knocked them out of the tournament.
Coming to the match, Punjab's chase didn't start well. They lost Priyansh Arya (0) and Cooper Connolly (18) early, with Mohammed Shami picking up both wickets. But then, Prabhsimran Singh (69 off 39) and Shreyas Iyer got together for a match-winning 140-run partnership.
This partnership completely turned the game around. Even after Prabhsimran fell in the 15th over, Shreyas kept his cool. He, along with Suryansh Shedge (9), saw Punjab through to the finish line. His fantastic innings included five sixes and 11 fours.
Earlier, Lucknow put up a strong total of 196 for six after being asked to bat first. Josh Inglis was their top scorer with a brilliant 72 off 44 balls. Ayush Badoni (43 off 18) and Abdul Samad (37 off 20) also played quick, impactful knocks.
Rishabh Pant was the only other batsman to cross double figures, scoring 26 off 22 balls. Lucknow lost Arshin Kulkarni (0), Nicholas Pooran (2), and Mukul Choudhary (1) cheaply. For Punjab, Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal were the best bowlers, taking two wickets each.
