Israel Issues Illegal Demolition Orders for Palestinian Structures Near East Jerusalem

(MENAFN) Israel has issued demolition orders targeting several Palestinian homes and commercial structures in the town of Hizma, northeast of occupied East Jerusalem, according to reports.

Local authorities stated that the orders cover eight properties in the Tablas area, including residential buildings and small businesses such as a car wash, carpentry workshop, and grocery store, as well as additional structures and caravans owned by local residents.

The notices reportedly include homes belonging to multiple families, alongside privately owned commercial facilities, all cited under the justification of lacking construction permits.

According to reports, similar demolition activities were also carried out in other parts of the occupied West Bank on the same day, including the destruction of residential structures, livestock shelters, and a cement facility in separate locations.

Palestinian officials say such actions have become increasingly frequent and argue they form part of broader policies that restrict Palestinian development and expand settlement activity in the occupied territories.

Data cited by local monitoring groups indicates dozens of demolition operations in recent months, affecting residential buildings and other infrastructure, alongside the issuance of additional demolition notices.

The developments come amid ongoing unrest in the West Bank, where there has been continued military activity, raids, arrests, and property damage since the escalation of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, according to reports.
