Iran Appoints Parliament Speaker Qalibaf as Special Envoy to China
(MENAFN) Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has reportedly been selected to serve as Tehran’s special envoy to China, according to reports published Sunday.
As stated by reports citing informed sources, Qalibaf will oversee coordination among various Iranian state institutions on matters connected to China.
The report said the appointment was put forward by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and later approved by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
According to the same sources, Qalibaf’s new position grants him broader authority than previous representatives who handled relations with Beijing.
The report did not clarify whether he will continue serving simultaneously as Iran’s parliament speaker.
