Israeli Defense Firm Says Beit Shemesh Blast Was Controlled Test

(MENAFN) A large explosion reported near the central Israeli city of Beit Shemesh on Saturday night was part of a planned and controlled test, according to a statement from a state-owned defense company, as cited by reports.

Footage shared on social media showed flames and a significant column of smoke rising from the area after the blast, which was also heard in surrounding communities.

According to reports, the explosion took place at a testing site operated by Tomer, a state-owned company involved in the development of rocket and missile engines.

The company stated that the incident was a “pre-planned experiment” conducted according to its scheduled testing procedures.
