Xi Signals Expanded Access for American Companies in China
(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Thursday that China’s market would continue to become more accessible to American enterprises, stating that the country’s door to US businesses would "open up" further. His remarks came during a gathering in Beijing alongside US President Donald Trump.
While welcoming the American delegation at the Great Hall of the People — China’s official ceremonial venue — Trump presented the prominent executives accompanying him to Xi, according to a state-run news agency.
The American business group traveling with Trump featured several influential corporate figures, including Nvidia chief Jensen Huang, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple leader Tim Cook, BlackRock executive Larry Fink, Blackstone chairman Stephen Schwarzman, Boeing head Kelly Ortberg, Cargill CEO Brian Sikes, Citigroup chief Jane Fraser, GE Aerospace chairman Larry Culp, Goldman Sachs executive David Solomon, Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, and Qualcomm president Cristiano Amon.
During the meeting, the executives conveyed their intention to expand their activities in China and enhance collaboration with the country.
Xi emphasized that American firms have played a significant role in China’s reform and economic opening process, noting that both nations have gained advantages from their long-standing partnership.
He further stressed that China’s policy of opening up "will only open wider," while expressing Beijing’s readiness to encourage stronger mutually rewarding cooperation with the United States. Xi also said he is confident that US companies will discover greater opportunities and wider growth potential within the Chinese market.
