Pope Leo XIV Receives Sudan's Prime Minister
According to information published by the Vatican's official news outlet, Vatican News, the meeting at the Secretariat of State addressed relations between the Holy See and Sudan, the contribution of the local Church to the country, and the crisis affecting Sudan. The need for a ceasefire, assistance for the population, and dialogue aimed at ending the conflict and achieving peace were also discussed.
Having led the Catholic Church for only about a year, the pope has already included two Arab countries in his international trips. During Leo XIV's first foreign mission, in 2025, the pontiff visited Lebanon, an Arab country, as well as Turkey. On a trip to Africa in April this year, Algeria was another Arab country on the itinerary, which also included Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.
