Centre To Launch Second Tranche Of Limestone Block Auctions In Jammu & Kashmir
Under the second tranche, 12 limestone blocks will be offered for auction in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir administration. The blocks are located across Anantnag, Rajouri and Poonch districts and include both newly identified mines and blocks being re-auctioned after earlier bidding rounds.
The launch event will be attended by Union Mines Secretary Piyush Goyal and Ashwani Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, J&K along with senior officials from the Centre and the Union Territory administration.
Officials said the limestone blocks fall under UNFC G3 and G4 exploration stages and contain industrial-grade limestone resources used in cement, construction and infrastructure sectors.
The auctions are being conducted under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and Mineral (Auction) Rules, 2015 through a digital e-auction platform aimed at ensuring a transparent and competitive bidding process.
According to the ministry, operationalisation of the blocks is expected to support industrial growth, generate employment, strengthen mineral-based industries and contribute to economic development in Jammu & Kashmir.
