Peshawar High Court Alarmed As Rat-Bite Cases, Child Deaths Spark Public Health Concerns


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) A significant public health case was heard in the Peshawar High Court regarding the rising incidents of rat bites in the city and surrounding areas, along with reported child deaths and the spread of dangerous diseases.

During the hearing, Advocate Saifullah Mohib Kakakhel informed the court that several families are facing severe difficulties due to rat attacks, and in some cases, child fatalities have also been reported.

He also presented newspaper clippings, reports, and public complaints before the court to highlight the seriousness of the situation.

The petitioner's counsel argued that the issue is not individual in nature but a serious public health concern affecting society as a whole, requiring immediate action.

He requested the court to direct the concerned authorities to take effective measures to prevent further harm to citizens, especially children.

During the hearing, Justice Waqar Ahmad remarked that dangerous diseases such as“Hantavirus” are also being spread through rats, highlighting the severity and sensitivity of the issue.

Considering the importance of the matter, the court sought a detailed response from the relevant authorities within two weeks and directed the office to fix the next hearing for June 15, 2026.
