Iran Reports Successful Oil Tanker Movements Despite US Maritime Pressure

(MENAFN) Reports indicate that Iranian oil shipments have managed to reach domestic ports despite increased US naval pressure in the region, according to state media citing maritime tracking data.

Iran’s state news agency said that three oil tankers linked to the National Iranian Oil Company navigated alternative maritime routes over the past two days, avoiding heavily monitored waters in the Strait of Hormuz. Instead, the vessels reportedly passed through waters associated with Pakistan before arriving at Iranian ports.

The developments come after the United States allegedly imposed a naval blockade aimed at restricting Iran’s oil exports and increasing pressure on Tehran regarding its nuclear program.

Iranian ports such as Chabahar and Jask, located near the border with Pakistan and along the Gulf of Oman, allow access to international waters without passing through the narrow Strait of Hormuz, where US naval forces are heavily present.

According to maritime tracking information cited by Iranian media, the tankers—operated by the state oil company—were empty and had a combined capacity of around 5 million barrels. The vessels reportedly used Pakistan’s maritime zone before docking in Iran.

Separate reports referenced by international media suggest that US intelligence assessments believe Iran could sustain current conditions for several months before experiencing deeper economic strain. Despite disruptions to oil exports, Iranian authorities are believed to be using storage tankers and adjusting production levels to manage supply constraints.

Some analysts estimate that Iran retains significant floating storage capacity, potentially allowing it to continue operations for several weeks even under tightened export conditions.

In addition, reports indicate that Pakistan has maintained multiple land-based transit routes connecting its ports and border crossings with Iran, enabling continued regional trade despite maritime restrictions.
