Netanyahu Cuts Short Court Testimony Citing Security Schedule

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had his scheduled court testimony in an ongoing corruption trial cut short on Monday after requesting an early end, citing a “security schedule,” according to reports from Israeli media.

A newspaper reported that “The hearing will end at 12:45 p.m. (0945GMT),” adding that Netanyahu is expected to hold “a security discussion at noon.”

According to reports, Monday’s session marked the 85th time Netanyahu has appeared in court in connection with his corruption case.

The charges against him include allegations that he received valuable gifts from wealthy businessmen in exchange for political favors, sought favorable media coverage from a newspaper publisher, and provided regulatory benefits to a telecommunications executive in return for positive press coverage on a news website.

In addition to the domestic legal proceedings, Netanyahu has also been subject to an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant since 2024 over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The ongoing war in the territory has resulted in more than 72,000 deaths and over 172,000 injuries since October 2023, according to figures cited in reports.
