KUALA LUMPUR - Social media firm TikTok has named Jeremy Ng as its new communications lead for Malaysia. Ng has been with TikTok for just under two years now and was promoted from his previous role as Southeast Asia senior communications manager for UGC digital literacy and eCommerce.
In his new role, he leads the overall communications strategy, corporate narrative, and reputation management for TikTok and ByteDance (including Lark and BytePlus) in Malaysia. Ng will oversee the development and execution of integrated initiatives end-to-end, while steering high-impact stakeholder engagements and complex issues management across the local market. He will also operate at the intersection of culture, technology, business, and policy to strengthen trust and shape meaningful conversations around the digital ecosystem.
Some of his key focuses include TikTok's #ThinkTwice Digital Literacy Initiative which was a strategic vision he himself proposed in 2024 to provide resources towards scam prevention through the site's multilingual in-app knowledge hub, search banners, educational short videos, creator content, and series of industry dialogues.
"Two years later, it is incredibly rewarding to witness its evolution into a regional flagship initiative for Southeast Asia, having expanded into the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam," he wrote on LinkedIn. "I am a firm advocate for initiatives rooted in genuine purpose and consistent action, going beyond one-off announcements toward sustained commitment. It was in this spirit that we advanced into #ThinkTwice Training in 2026, a series of train-the-trainer workshops designed to equip community champions with practical hands-on experiences."
He added that while #ThinkTwice has garnered nearly 400 million views on its educational content and over 1.4 million visits to its multilingual knowledge hub, the real story lies in the unseen work.
"Behind the milestone achievements are the countless late nights and weekends spent meticulously building resources and traveling across states to engage with parents, teens, and teachers in person," he wrote. "Even our knowledge hub was painstakingly crafted to inclusively offer actionable insights on scam prevention, teen safety, privacy, and mental health in English, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, and Tamil languages."
Prior to his stint at TikTok, Ng was with Boost as its assistant manager for public relations and corporate PR. He has also held roles in Lazada and Archetype in his career.
