Iran Offers Vessels in Hormuz Full Port Services
(MENAFN) Iran announced Thursday that its ports stand ready to extend maritime services, technical support, fuel, supplies, and medical assistance to vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding regional waters, as tensions over the critical waterway remain elevated.
The advisory was conveyed in a message from Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization to commanders of commercial vessels navigating the region, an official news agency reported. The message confirmed that all ships operating in Iranian territorial waters and ports may access supply services, fuel provision, health and medical care, and maintenance materials as needed.
The organization said the advisory would be broadcast three times daily over three days through maritime communication networks and very high frequency (VHF) systems across the region.
The announcement comes as the US has enforced a naval blockade targeting Iranian maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz since April 13 — a waterway of critical importance to global oil shipments. Regional hostilities have intensified since the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28, drawing retaliatory action from Tehran and compounding disruptions to shipping through the strait. A ceasefire negotiated through Pakistani mediation took hold on April 8, but subsequent talks in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting accord. US President Donald Trump later extended the truce without setting a fixed deadline.
