Netanyahu Authorises Army Action in Lebanon Despite Truce
(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given orders for the military to strike Hezbollah-linked sites in Lebanon, according to reports published Saturday.
The directive followed what his office described as “numerous ceasefire violations” by Hezbollah, according to reports. He also instructed the military to respond “forcefully,” as stated.
The escalation comes while a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon remains in effect. On April 17, US President Donald Trump declared a 10-day truce, which was later prolonged by an additional three weeks.
Despite the agreement, violations have continued since March 2, with Israeli actions leading to 2,496 deaths and 7,725 injuries, according to reports. In turn, Hezbollah has carried out attacks against Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon, as well as nearby communities.
