Erdogan Says Ongoing Regional Conflict Is Eroding Europe’s Stability

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s president has warned that ongoing conflicts in the region are already undermining Europe’s stability and that the situation could worsen without a stronger focus on peaceful solutions.

According to reports, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the remarks during a phone conversation with Germany’s president Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Wednesday, where the two leaders discussed bilateral relations alongside broader regional and global developments.

He reportedly stated that the war in the region is beginning to have a weakening effect on Europe and emphasized that unless a peace-focused approach is adopted, the negative consequences will continue to grow significantly.

During the call, he also noted that relations between Türkiye and Germany have recently improved, pointing to increased high-level engagement between the two countries.

He further highlighted Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts, saying it is working to encourage negotiations aimed at ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, while also pursuing similar efforts regarding tensions involving Iran, with the goal of reaching a durable and lasting peace.
