France Investigates Possible Cyberattack Behind Major Data Leak

(MENAFN) According to reports, France’s Interior Ministry has said that a cyberattack is likely responsible for a large-scale data breach involving a government website.

As stated by reports, an “information security incident” was identified on April 15, potentially affecting data linked to both private and professional user accounts. The information was shared in an official statement referenced by a broadcaster.

Reports indicate that the attack targeted the National Agency for Secure Documents (ANTS), the agency responsible for services such as vehicle registration, driving licenses, and national identity documents.

As stated by reports, the compromised data may include login credentials, full names, email addresses, dates of birth, and unique account identifiers. In some cases, additional personal details such as postal addresses, places of birth, and telephone numbers may also have been exposed.

According to reports, the Interior Ministry has begun notifying affected individuals directly as part of its response to the incident and ongoing investigation.
