São Tomé, Príncipe to Boost Investment, Cooperation with Türkiye

(MENAFN) According to reports, São Tomé and Príncipe’s foreign minister has highlighted growing opportunities for deeper cooperation with Türkiye, saying the two countries can build a mutually beneficial partnership as the African nation expands its economic diplomacy efforts.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Ilza Maria dos Santos Amado Vaz said there is significant potential for what she described as “strategic, win-win diplomacy” between the two sides.

She explained that São Tomé and Príncipe is prioritizing economic diplomacy, with bilateral agreements intended to provide a framework for cooperation in key development sectors and to encourage foreign investment.

The minister also stressed that energy transition is a major focus, noting the need for increased investment to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and support a shift toward more sustainable energy sources.

She added that the country’s newly adopted development strategy places tourism at its center, with plans to position São Tomé and Príncipe as a sustainable tourism destination.

Vaz emphasized that achieving these goals will depend on stronger collaboration between public institutions and private sector partners, particularly through international cooperation and investment-driven initiatives.
