Pakistan Puts Islamabad on High Alert Ahead of Expected US-Iran Talks

(MENAFN) According to reports, Pakistani authorities have significantly increased security measures in Islamabad and the nearby city of Rawalpindi in preparation for an expected second round of talks between the United States and Iran.

Police sources indicated that around 20,000 officers have been deployed across the two cities, supported by elite commandos, including snipers. Additional units such as highway patrol teams, rapid response forces, and specialized police groups have also been placed on high alert, while surveillance systems and rooftop positions are being used for continuous monitoring.

Similar security steps were previously implemented during the first round of discussions aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East.

Officials also noted that advance teams from the United States, including security personnel, have begun arriving to coordinate arrangements for the upcoming meetings.

As part of the broader security plan, authorities have suspended both public and goods transportation in the twin cities, while access to key government zones has been heavily restricted.

Several major hotels have been cleared of guests after being designated for official use during the talks, and accommodations such as hostels and guest houses have been ordered to shut down until further notice.
