Tel Aviv Mayor Reports Widespread Housing Damage After Iran War

(MENAFN) More than 1,000 residential units in Tel Aviv have been left uninhabitable following the recent war with Iran, according to the city’s mayor.

As stated by reports citing Israeli TV channel, Mayor Ron Huldai said that “more than 1,000 apartments in Tel Aviv are no longer fit for living” due to damage caused by Iranian missile and drone strikes.

During the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, which began on Feb. 28, Iran launched multiple missile and drone attacks on Israeli cities in response to large-scale strikes on its own territory.

Some of the incoming projectiles, along with debris from interception systems, reportedly struck buildings in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and Bnei Brak, resulting in casualties and widespread destruction to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure.

According to the channel, Israeli officials estimate that 40 days of fighting involving Iran and Lebanon cost approximately $17.5 billion, excluding reconstruction expenses and broader economic losses from partial shutdowns.

Israeli media reports also indicate that nearly 30,000 compensation claims have been submitted to the Israeli Tax Authority for property damage, including thousands related to buildings, vehicles, and equipment.

Separately, the Israeli economic outlet Calcalist reported that a 12-day conflict with Iran in June resulted in roughly 3 billion shekels (about $1 billion) in compensation payments for business-related damages.
