Dr Joanna L'Heureux is an postdoctoral researcher in Public Health and Sport Sciences at the University of Exeter and obtained her PhD from Public Health and Sport Sciences at the University of Exeter. Her research focuses on understanding how the oral and gut microbiome influences overall health and cognitive function, particularly in older adults.
This research is important for identifying potential microbial markers of cognitive decline, developing targeted dietary interventions, and uncovering new strategies to support healthy aging and brain function.
Joanna employs a combination of clinical, laboratory, and bioinformatic techniques to understand the relationship between the human body and its bacterial residents.
