Amir, Pakistan Prime Minister Discuss Regional And International Developments

Doha, Qatar: The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and His Excellency Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, discussed the latest regional and international developments, particularly those in the Middle East, during a meeting held today, April 16, 2026, at the Amiri Diwan.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness the Amir welcomed the Pakistani Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, stressing his appreciation for the role that Pakistan plays in supporting efforts to reduce tensions and promote diplomatic dialogue in a way that serves regional security and peace.

For his part, the Pakistani Prime Minister reiterated his country's condemnation of the attacks targeting Qatar and the countries of the region, stressing Pakistan's full solidarity and support for the measures taken by Qatar to protect its sovereignty and preserve its security and stability.

During the meeting, both sides stressed the need to support the path of de-escalation and enhance international coordination to ensure the security and stability of the region, particularly maintaining the smooth flow of energy supply chains through vital maritime routes.

The relations of cooperation and friendship between the two countries were also reviewed, as well as ways to develop them, in order to strengthen the partnership between the two countries and open new horizons for bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was attended by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Head of the Amiri Diwan, and a number of Their Excellencies senior officials.

On the Pakistani side, those in attendance included HE Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Attaullah Tarar, Minister of Information, HE Syed Tariq Fatemi, Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, and a number of senior officials.

His Highness the Amir and the Prime Minister of Pakistan also held a bilateral meeting, during which they exchanged views on current developments of common interest and stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the two countries, especially in light of current events and their repercussions on the security and stability of the region.

Following that, His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon in honor of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the accompanying delegation.
