India, Germany To Deepen Cooperation In Defence, Green Energy & Technology
The discussions took place during the India-Germany Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) held in Berlin on Tuesday, co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and State Secretary of German Foreign Ministry Geza Andreas von Geyr.
Comprehensive Review of Bilateral Ties
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), both sides conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, covering trade and investment, defence and security, technology, green and sustainable development, mobility, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two countries agreed to further deepen and diversify cooperation in areas of contemporary relevance, including industrial collaboration, digital governance, green hydrogen, innovation, and development partnerships in third countries.
Discussions on Global Conflicts
The consultations also included an exchange of views on key global developments, notably the ongoing West Asia crisis and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, reflecting shared concerns over geopolitical stability.
High-Level Engagements in Berlin
During his visit, Misri also engaged with senior foreign policy experts, parliamentarians, and officials from Germany's federal and state governments at the Korber Foundation.
The MEA noted that the visit builds on the momentum generated by the January visit of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to India, which helped accelerate cooperation across priority sectors.
The discussions are also expected to contribute to tangible outcomes at the upcoming India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations scheduled later this year.
