Jordan, Syria Sign Mou To Enhance Cooperation In Postal Services

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Jordanian Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smirat, and Syrian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdul Salam Haikal, on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in the postal services sector.

The agreement was signed at the conclusion of the 2nd session of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council, during which the two sides signed several agreements and MoUs in vital sectors, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

According to a ministry statement, the memo aims to strengthen partnership between the Jordanian and Syrian postal services, enable development of the postal and logistics services system, expand cooperation in e-commerce and digital financial services.

The MoU seeks to exchange expertise and build capacities by conducting joint training programmes and transferring the best international practices in developing modern postal services.

Additionally, cooperation areas provide steps to develop shipping and postal exchange services, facilitate international shipments, activate e-cash orders and express postal services, and use e-payment solutions.

The two sides will also introduce automation and modern technologies to raise "operational efficiency," and enhance coordination in regional and international forums, Petra, reported.
