Hungary Election: Nearly 99% Of Votes Counted, Tisza Party In Lead


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This is according to data published on the website of the National Election Office, Ukrinform reports.

According to the results from 98.94% of ballots counted, Tisza has received about 69.35% of the vote and 138 seats in the 199-seat parliament. The party of incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Fidesz, has secured 27.64% and 55 seats, while Our Homeland (Mi Hazánk) has 3.02% and 6 seats.

Thus, Tisza is set to obtain an absolute parliamentary majority.

As reported, parliamentary election was held in Hungary on April 12, with a record turnout of 77.8%.

After the first election results were announced, Péter Magyar addressed his supporters in Budapest, stating that Tisza had“won this election, securing two-thirds of the vote.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz congratulated the Tisza party on its victory in Hungary's elections.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also congratulated Péter Magyar and the Tisza party on their victory.
