Israeli Ministers Suggest Resumption of Attacks on Iran if Talks Fail

(MENAFN) Israeli officials hinted on Sunday at the potential renewal of military operations against Iran, with Energy Minister Eli Cohen stating that Tehran could face attacks if diplomatic efforts fail.

Cohen emphasized that the nuclear issue is of global concern, expressing approval of US President Donald Trump’s stance on setting clear boundaries regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

In comments to a media outlet, Cohen remarked, "If there is no deal, Iran can be hit."

On the situation in Lebanon, where Israel has intensified its military actions, Cohen suggested that Israel should target not only military forces but also Lebanon's broader infrastructure. “I have said this in the cabinet. I do not see a high chance of success for these negotiations,” he noted, referring to the upcoming Washington meeting on April 14, which is aimed at negotiating a ceasefire and initiating direct talks between Tel Aviv and Beirut.

In a separate interview with Channel 14, Israel’s Economy Minister Nir Barkat argued that the US would ultimately achieve its strategic objectives in its conflict with Iran. He claimed that Iranian officials fail to grasp the resolve of US President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring, “We will return to war and achieve its objectives.”

Israeli Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zoha, in a post on the social media platform X, also highlighted the strong alignment between Israel and the US. He noted that Washington’s firm stance against Iran’s nuclear aspirations reflects a coordinated effort, asserting that both nations are committed to preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
